This comprehensive, multi-year project began in 2006 and targets flow monitoring, inspection, rehabilitation and repair of the City's aging sewer infrastructure system serving the Little Harpeth River sub-basin.  To date, the sewer rehabilitation program has eliminated over 700 million gallons of rainwater that previously entered the sewer system annually and more than $1 million is estimated to be saved annually by improving the system infrastructure.

• 2006 -- Brentwood launches a $30 million plan to eliminate sewer overflows by reducing the amount of stormwater infiltration and inflow into the sewer system.

• 2006- 2019 -- Problematic areas identified and rehabilitation tasks are prioritized through system flow monitoring and video inspection.

• 2019 -- System rehabilitation has been completed on approximately 20% of the sewer system.  The rehab work seals up all cracks and points of rainwater infiltration and future ground water is prevented from entering.

What’s Next?  

The City of Brentwood's Water Services Department has contracted with Barge Solutions, an Engineering company, to provide continued rehabilitation program assistance for the next phases of the program.  Barge Engineering and staff are currently working on the sewer system's second of two planned storage facilities to be located at Tower Park.  Currently, construction of the second tank is scheduled to break ground in 2026.
