Capacity Management, Operations and Maintenance programs are a best practice for collections system owners and operators. The program, developed federally by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), is information-based to effectively run a system and help lower the risk of overflows.

Formalizing and implementing the programs below has helped the City of Brentwood’s Water Department to improve productivity, accountability and overall management of our system.

Brentwood’s Capacity Management, Operations and Maintenance program includes:

  • Fats, Oils and Grease (FOG) control program
  • Establish procedures to help operators respond effectively to overflow events
  • Review and update Sewer Use Ordinance
  • Implement programs designed to proactively prevent overflows
  • Routine pump station inspections, operation and maintenance
  • Gravity line and air release valve maintenance
