The Fats, Oils and Grease Control Program, or F.O.G. is to help prevent sewer system blockages, obstructions and overflows due to the accumulation of fats, oils and grease from food service establishments and commercial facilities. The accumulation of FOG within sewer lines and pump stations can clog sewers due to the congealed, cooled grease which coats the inside of the sewer pipes. Once a pipe becomes constricted, the potential for a collection system blockage increases.      FOG Blockages contribute to sanitary sewer overflows and may also cause sewer back-ups into homes and businesses.  Annual FOG inspections typically began in early January and will continue through the Spring.
