Fees and Bonds are listed below.
Our bond process works in the following manner:
The Primary Contractor is responsible for obtaining the bond. A Sub-Contractor working under the Primary Contractor may "piggy back" off a current bond already in place as long as there is enough to cover all active projects.
No excavation permit shall be issued unless the applicant for the permit has provided the public works department with performance bond, electronic deposit or letter of credit in the amount or more, to ensure the proper restoration of the ground and laying of the pavement, if any. A letter of credit will be accepted only if issued by a financial institution with an office or branch located within the city that is authorized to accept a demand for payment.
If the excavation is to occur outside of any public street, the deposit shall be in the sum of $25.00 per linear foot of the proposed excavation. If disturbance of a street section or boring under a street section is proposed, the deposit shall be in the sum of $4,500.00, plus $150.00 per linear foot in excess of 30 linear feet. Where the amount of the deposit is clearly inadequate to cover the cost of restoration, the public works director may increase the amount of the deposit to an amount considered by him to be adequate to cover the cost.
From this deposit shall be deducted any expense incurred by the city for proper restoration of the pavement or other surfaces and repair of any other damages. The balance shall be returned to the applicant without interest after the excavation is completely refilled, the surface or pavement is restored to the satisfaction of the public works director or his designee, and any other damage is completely repaired.

Permit Fee: First 100 feet = $100, each additional foot = $0.50

Road Cut- Includes in the Right of Way, in the roadway, or trenching
Permit Fee: First 30 feet = $50, each additional foot =$5 with a maximum fee of $200
Bond: Minimum of 30 feet or less =$4500, over 30 foot is the minimum plus $150 per additional foot

Other- this includes aerial, lane closures, maintenance of an already established line, etc. (please contact the office at 615-507-2763 if you are not sure which category your job falls in)
