In accordance with the Brentwood Municipal Code, Article III, any peddler or canvasser to ply his trade in any residential area within the corporate limits of Brentwood must first obtain a permit.

Each applicant must submit an application online, which must include a copy of their employee ID or a letter from the organization authorizing representation, a copy of their driver's license for the background investigation, and a $1,000 Surety Bond made payable to the City of Brentwood.  All documents must be attached to the online application to proceed.  Please be prepared with this information before you start the application process.  Paper applications will no longer be accepted.  Electronic application submission is required.

After the applicant has submitted their application, City staff will contact the applicant to pay the required $40.00 background investigation fee.  Please make sure you provide a correct email address to pay this fee online.  Failure to provide correct information on the application will delay the issuance of your permit.

Permits will be issued via email after all documentation has been submitted, fees paid, and a background check has been completed by the Brentwood Police Department.  Permits are good for one year from the date of issuance or upon cancellation of bond whichever comes first.

If you have any questions, please contact the Finance Department at 615-371-0060.
