Glass Jars & Bottles
- Rinse bottle and discard lid.
- Sort by color: (1) clear, (2) green/blue, and (3) brown
Plastic # 1 & # 2 Only
- Effective January 1, 2020, Williamson County will be accepting Plastics # 1 & # 2 Only in the mixed plastic recycling bin at all county convenience centers and recycling drop-offs.- Includes mostly plastic bottles and jugs (see visual examples below)
- Leave ON plastic bottle caps and labels
- Rinse First - Only recycle items that are clean and mostly dry
- No Plastics labeled # 3 - # 7
- No Plastics without a recycling symbol - When in Doubt, Throw it Out!

CURBSIDE RECYCLING is an optional service handled by private collectors; most companies offer both curbside recycling and garbage collection services. Please contact collectors directly for service and information on rates, scheduling, and all other inquiries. For your convenience, we have noted on the Garbage page which haulers also provide curbside recycling.

Household Hazardous Waste Disposal & Electronics Recycling
Williamson County residents can drop off batteries, oil, paint, anti-freeze and electronics at the Franklin Solid Waste Transfer Station located at 417 Century Court (Map). The transfer station will accept residential waste Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Commercial waste is not be accepted.
The batteries category includes all non-alkaline batteries, including rechargeable and automotive (alkaline batteries can be discarded with regular garbage). Paint should be in original containers. The electronics category includes computers (desktop and laptops), monitors (CRTs and flat screens), telephones, cell phones, fax machines, printers, copiers, televisions, residential medical equipment, stereo equipment, video games, PDAs and all cables. Computer hard drives should be cleaned of any personal information.
