City Judge Update

Post Date:05/04/2009

With the upcoming retirement of Judge Thomas Schlater, the Board of Commissioners has selected attorney Laurie Jewett, a Nashville resident and Vanderbilt University graduate, as Brentwood’s new City Judge. Ms. Jewett is a former Assistant Attorney General for the State of Tennessee. Her experience also includes private practice litigation, mediation, teaching and serving as a part-time judicial magistrate. She will begin presiding over Brentwood’s City Court in July. A City Judge Advisory Committee, which included attorneys Robert Burns, Dottie Grief and Gregg Ramos, assisted in the process of selecting a new judge.

The City of Brentwood is grateful to Judge Schlater, who has served for 38 of the 40 years that Brentwood has been incorporated. Judge Schlater will be honored with a reception on May 12 from 2:30 to 4:00 at the Brentwood Municipal Center. The public is invited to attend.
