Post Date:08/04/2023 2:22 PM

The Brentwood Police Department, Brentwood Fire and Rescue, Williamson County Sheriff’s Department,
Nolensville Fire and Rescue, and the Franklin Fire Department will host the 10th
Annual Williamson County Battle of the Badges Blood Drive on August the 7th from 9 Am to 2 PM at
Franklin City Hall and August 16th and 17th at the John P. Holt Brentwood Library from 6 AM to 6
PM.

In Honor of Battle of the Badge's 10th Anniversary, Nolensville Fire Chief David Windrow and Retired Brentwood Assistant Chief of
Police Tommy Walsh will be special honorees. The Brentwood Police and Fire Departments came
together 10 years ago to start this community drives to bring awareness to the need for blood and
have a little fun capturing bragging rights for their respective departments. This drive became
successful under the leadership of Chief Windrow and Retired Assistant Chief Walsh. It has grown to
collect hundreds of units of blood each year while adding additional partners in the Williamson
County Sheriff's Department and the Nolensville Fire Department. Both of these men are not only
heroes in their community but also blood recipients themselves.

“Please consider participating in the annual Battle of the Badges blood drive," Windrow said. "This is an opportunity to have an extraordinary impact on your
community. You have the potential to save three to six lives with your donation. My life as well as
the life of my good friend and co‐blood drive leader, are just two that have been saved by
donations.”

Williamson County Battle of the Badges is excited to announce Franklin Fire is joining
our Battle team. With this addition, we will also be honoring Franklin Fire Captain Scott Mainord.
Captain Mainord was seriously injured after falling 22 feet during an on‐duty training exercise on
April 11, 2023. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, the only adult and
pediatric Level 1 trauma center in Middle Tennessee. During treatment of his multiple injuries,
including eight pelvic fractures and a lacerated lung, Captain Mainord received two units of blood
supplied by the American Red Cross. Remarkably, he was discharged from the hospital one week later
and returned to work one month later. He is grateful for the countless lifesaving interventions he
received, including blood from the American Red Cross supplied by donors like you!
