On Thursday, May 20, the City received a request from the Islamic Center of Williamson County to withdraw its rezoning application for the tract of land on Wilson Pike just south of the Twin Springs Subdivision. As a result, the final reading of the rezoning ordinance originally scheduled for Monday, May 24th will be withdrawn from the City Commission agenda.
The following is the text of the withdrawal request from the Islamic Center:
We have made the decision to withdraw our application for rezoning of Wilson Pike property, with regret and a heavy heart.
Please convey our sincere thanks to every one in your office and Mike (City Manager) as well. If you can convey to all that we just wanted something for ourselves where we could have gone with our families to worship. The place which would be safe and secure for us. We could have worshipped the Almighty in our traditions and believes. We submit to God Almighty's Will in the final analysis and this outcome, as we believe nothing happens without the Will of Almighty. We hope the future is brighter and shinier than today.
Thank all the City and Planning Commissioners on our behalf for giving us an opportunity even though the end result turned out to be a disappointment for our Community, regretfully.
