Disaster Relief Center Opens

The Williamson County Emergency Management Agency has announced that a disaster relief center has been established in Williamson County to provide help to residents who suffered losses in the severe storms and tornados last week.

The center is located at the Church Street side of Franklin City Hall at 109 Third Ave. S. in the former police training room. The hours of operation will be every day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. until further notice.

Residents should first register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or by going online to www.DisasterAssistance.gov. Help in all languages is available. Applicants with speech or hearing impairment should use the TDD number, 1-800-462-7585.

Once registered, staff at the recovery center can check an individual’s case, answer questions about claims, or review information needed to process their claim. It is important to pre-register with local and FEMA officials to keep the process moving. Recovery specialists also can supply contacts for other programs that may be able to help.
