Ravenswood Mansion Wedding Giveaway Winners Announced

Post Date:02/26/2018

George Kamel and Whitney Woloshyn will wed at Ravenswood Mansion on November 2, 2018.   Three weeks ago, the couple were not even engaged.   After Whitney discovered the City of Brentwood’s “Romantic Wedding” giveaway contest, she told her boyfriend whom she had been discussing marriage that they should enter.

“I found out about the contest, but I was planning to propose in early spring. I decided to just push it up for the contest.  Many things had to happen before I could even propose. I had to write a song for her, and have the song recorded. Then, she had to say yes, and then we had to film another video capturing our story for the contest, have someone edit that video together, and submit it by the end of the month. It has been so incredibly fun, but stressful, and so this just feels like the end of a journey and we can finally breathe” - George

The couple, with the help of some of their friends, submitted a video that passed the judging round and received more than 5,120 views and over 1,600 votes on the City of Brentwood’s YouTube channel, making it the winning entry.  The couple won a wedding package valued at over $28,000.  The couple was able to meet many of the participating vendors and tour Ravenswood Mansion for the first time at a celebration ceremony Tuesday February 13.

Event Venue Manager Abby Cox who spent months putting the lavish package together said, “I see it time and time again that couples have to choose between their dream wedding and every day finances. Most of the time, life will win and a couple will ultimately forfeit having their dream wedding. I wanted this to be unlike any other wedding giveaway. I did not just want it to be the venue, a dress, and cake, but instead I wanted it to be everything a couple could need if they dreamed this up on their own. The support from the local vendors has been nothing short of wonderful. I can’t thank them enough for wanting to be part of this and donating their time and services to make this possible,” said Cox.
