New Trail Considered for Maryland Farms Greenway

Community Meeting September 28

Post Date:09/13/2017 5:07 PM

Brentwood City Leaders voted at its regular meeting on Monday, September 11 to move forward with potentially adding a new trail to the Maryland Farms Greenway.  Several residents at the meeting spoke in support of the greenway.   The meeting and the commission's vote is the first consideration.   Below are several additional opportunities for residents to provide public comment regarding this issue:

  •  September 28 - Community Meeting at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall
  • October 2 - Planning Commission meeting at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall

  • October 9 - Public Hearing during City Commission meeting at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall

  • October 26 - Final consideration by City Commission at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall

Greenway History

Fall of 2016, the City hosted two neighborhood meetings to discuss the potential of a 10' wide multi-use trail being constructed within the Maryland Farms Greenway which separates the office park from the Meadow Lake neighborhood. The trail would connect Powell Park and the Granny White Pike area neighborhoods to Maryland Way Park and the northern commercial area.

Construction of a trail on this property will require the City Commission to go through a rezoning process to amend the special restrictions placed on that land. The special restrictions currently prohibit construction of any improvements, including a paved trail.
