Sp 01 website resizedBRENTWOOD, TN –   Fifty-eight emergency 911 markers are now located inside the Marcella Vivrette Smith Park in Brentwood.   The wooden posts are located every tenth of a mile along the six miles of walking and hiking trails at the park.  Each post has a 3x5 inch orange and black sign with a letter and number code. This code can be relayed to a 911 operator in order to expedite emergency response if needed while in the park.  Smith Park is located at 1825 Wilson Pike in Brentwood, TN.

“The Brentwood Fire & Rescue Department is always searching for different ways to increase safety and service to our citizens and visitors,” said Chief Brian Goss. “This program is a simple and economical way to potentially save someone’s life”.

Brentwood is one of only several cities in the entire state to implement this type of system.  “The City strives to perform as a cohesive unit. Seamless operations between emergency dispatch and our first responders will provide fast and effective emergency services,” said Battalion Chief Brian Collins. “There are about 1,000 acres of green space in Brentwood. This program will help us locate individuals who need help who are not close to a known building address,” Collins explained.
