Brentwood, TN - The final report from the Bike and Pedestrian Ad Hoc Committee is now available. Formed in June of 2015, the board’s goal was to provide both short-term and long-term improvements of bicycle and pedestrian facilities and programs in Brentwood. The group received more than 500 survey responses from residents indicating a desire to reduce traffic, improve safety and school accessibility throughout the city. The majority of residents said they use bicycles for fitness, but expressed a gap in the ability to bike to local restaurants. Short term recommendations from the group include, simple signage, better connections to greenways, and more bike racks in public. Other recommendations include organizing “bike trains” in communities for school aged children, where one or two parents coordinate and organize. The group rides through the neighborhood, picks up children, and leads them safely to school. Additional and more costly long term projects include sidewalks to schools and bike share programs.
